Working with Telford Crisis Support
Believe it or not, our Telford store is about to celebrate its first birthday! With the events of last year it has been really hard to put any celebrations in place.
Since the easing of the lockdown and our reopening in April, we have been really keen to establish ourselves in the local area and support the community where we can. We reached out to Telford Crisis Support’s Baby Bank to find out how we could get involved with their work.
Telford Baby Bank is a referral service, supporting new parents to give their baby the best possible start in life. Through the project they provide essential items to parents and families: including young mums and dads, people seeking asylum, individuals fleeing domestic abuse or family breakdowns.
We’ve donated £200 to the Baby Bank which allowed their team to purchase any items that they were in need of. It was also important to us to create an event that celebrated this community partnership, so we invited the Baby Bank’s volunteers, Paul Davis (Mayor of Wellington) and the Shropshire Star to our store to mark the occasion.
It was a really successful event, with representatives from across the local community coming together for such a good cause. Virginia and her team at Telford Crisis Support did an amazing job in selecting all of the essential items; nappies, blankets, formula milk, breast pads – the list goes on!
“We have been welcomed with open arms in Wellington ever since we opened. It only felt right that we are being proactive with our local community, by supporting them in any way possible- just as they have supported us.” – Aqeel Karim, Store Owner.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone at Telford Crisis Support for all of their hard work, as well as Paul Davis and the Shropshire Star for their support. We can’t wait to get involved with another project and continue to support the Wellington community.
